starting an online t-shirt business?

First do some research on your business and the type of customers you are going to target. Next research the equipment and cost that you are looking for. Take this two steps and start there, its a tough market to get into but once you have found an audience it can be very profitable. I would recommend that you give out free sample shirt with your business name its a form of advertisement that can really help.

Well, are you wanting to design shirts and have another website handle manufacturing and shipping them or do you want to handle the design, production and shipping? If all you want to do is design, there are sites like cafepress.com that will let you set up your own store in a few minutes and can be very profitable. If you want to produce your own shirts, you will need quite a bit of expensive equipment and materials.

sounds like a very hard business to start. you have to differentiate yourself.

It depends whether you want complete control i.e. sourcing blank t shirts, printing equipment etc or whether you want to market the product yourself but outsource the production to a third party.

Like any business you will have to give it a certain amount of time to start delivering but if your designs are good there is no reason why it should not take off.

You might check out whorepresents dot com (I don't have enough posts to add a link to my response yet. sorry) . It is a pay site, but you can find the contact information for agents representing most celebrities. If you really do design quality fashion items, you can ship them to these people and hopefully someone famous will wear one out. VERY GOOD, relatively cost free marketing.

I think this is a pretty saturated niche.... but have some unique stuff and a big advertising budget and who knows?
