Default How do you determine the value of a domain name?

I purchased a domain name that I think would be in great demand. I want to sell it but have no idea how much it is worth in the "domain name" market place.

I check various factors when valuing a domain name.
    Like :

    The domain name itself,
    the domain extension,
Domain age (days for which the domain has been registered without drop)
    Alexa Rank,
    PageRank,
Existing Backlinks (and from where they are)

I have to disagree. Dnscoop is like Alexa: Many people use it but it's worthless. I could give you 10 tricks to increase your Alexa ranking exponentionally but it won't increase your traffic. Dnscoop is not taking into account important things such as niche or brandability.

I think the best way to determine the value of a domain name would be how popular the domain name is and how many unique visitors are on the site a month, any $$ earnt on the site and the age of the domain amongst other things.

I'm afraid there is not such a tool for accurate domain value. Wired076 is giving good advice.
If I would have to describe how to value a domain in one word, I'd say "experience".
Traffic alone is not good enough. You need to know where the traffic exactly came from (is the seller trying to trick you or not?).
Has the domain any negative history? Is it easy to remember (+/- length of the domain name)? Is the trend of the niche upwards, downwards, seasonal? What's the asking price of similar domain names?

Also, we know how the past of the domain industry was - a yearly increase of about 80% for a .com name - but what holds the future for domain names? Maybe we'll have an entirely different form of sharing information in a decade or large corporate websites could make the internet consolidate, which consequently would mean a devaluation of domain names.

Generally speaking, if the domain name contains a keyword that appears in a huge amount of searches ... that would be a good one actually.

Use a 2 word keyword phrase for a domain name unless your brand is known by everyone in your market in which case you would use it instead!
