Blogging is used for developing a fan base over a period of time.
It is also used for providing users with information on a product or service or about certain topics.

Micro-blogging is used for attracting the attention of users through small, interesting, and latest news updates. Its design makes it inappropriate for sharing knowledge-based information, although you can do this to a certain extent by sharing informative videos or links that point to an informative article.

    1) As a blogger you generally have no limit while as a microblogger you are usually rectricted to 140 to 150 words.
    2) A blogging site updates at the discretion of the blogger while a microblogging site keeps updating minute by minute.
3)Blogging sites are not as active as a microblogging site. A new blog might appear after a long interval that depends on the users convenience, however a microblogging site is much more active with new posts appearing within seconds.
4)A blogging site is not meant to keep the user and his friends updated about the day to day activities of the user and vice versa while micro-blogging sites aim t do exactly that.

Blogging is a way of collecting links to webpages and sharing thoughts and ideas with people online. Blogs (or Weblogs) are basically online journals or diaries which are great for sharing information and ideas.

Microblogging is a combination of blogging and instant messaging that allows users to create a short message that is posted on their profile. Websites such as twitter also allow these messages to be delivered on cell phones, which allows micro-blogging to provide a quick way to communicate with a group of people.
