Blogging can be an important part of an SEO campaign if done correctly. There are many things to consider when writing a blog for your business but one issue for consideration should be whether you would actually read a blog like the one you have created.
A blog is created to capture the attention and interest of a target audience and the search engines. If you would not be tempted to read your blog posts and return to your blog in the future, it is unlikely others will either. You must try to consider your blog from the reader’s point of view instead of from your own. Consider what you look for from a blog and whether your company blog offers this.
Titles are known to have a big impact on internet users. If a title is bold, clear and gives detail about what the following content is about, it will help to encourage others to read the post. The title can be a blogger’s first opportunity to attract attention and interest and to inform their audience of what their post is about. This opportunity must be taken advantage of and relevant and clear titles produced.
If your blog posts do not have appropriate and clear titles, you may not be helping your blog to gain the attention and interest it deserves. Consider what kind of blog post titles make you want to read on.
It is also likely you read blog posts which feature clearly presented content. If a large amount of content is presented in one big chunk this can be extremely off putting and can immediately make the content appear boring and dull. If the content within your blog is not separated into small, manageable sections, it is unlikely others will be keen to read it.
A blog post is written for a purpose and to communicate a certain message. When you are looking for a blog post to read you will look for one which is relevant to your needs and which stands out as useful. The keywords within the content are what highlights a post as relevant and so you must ensure keywords pertaining to your business are present within your blog posts.
The majority of blog readers also look for blogs which are regularly updated. If regular posts are not added to the post, there is little point in visiting the blog often because no fresh information will be present. It is important to regularly update your blog appropriately. This will not only help to keep your readers interested but will help to attract the attention of the search engines too.
When writing a blog, it is easy to become detached from your audience. However, you must regularly take a step back, look at your blog and consider whether you would want to read it.
