Alexa tracks only those users who have the alexa toolbar installed.

So you need to increase your userbase who have alexa toolbar installed.

try getting as much as traffic possible to your site and you'll see the change in alexa rankings.

Put the alexa traffic link on your site. I heard that helps increase your rank.

That trick doesn't work any more.

Get visitors. Even pop up/under traffic counts if they have the Alexa TB installed. But Alexa traffic ranks are not very accurate. Best to just look at your log files.

That site is not working , is a dead end .
Why do we need alexa anyway ? I understand if someone wants to sell his sites that will be helpful, but if I just want to keep for myself forever why should I bother about its rank?!

Alexa is more frequently used by people interested in the Web and technology. If your content it important to that group, more Alex users will visit your site and and thereby increase the rank.
