You will often find that many people confuse marketing with advertising or vice versa. While both components are important they are very different. Knowing the difference and doing your market research can put your company on the path to substantial growth.


Marketing: The systematic planning, implementation and control of a mix of business activities intended to bring together buyers and sellers for the mutually advantageous exchange or transfer of products.


Advertising: The paid, public, non-personal announcement of a persuasive message by an identified sponsor; the non-personal presentation or promotion by a firm of its products to its existing and potential customers.

i think advertising is the best way to promote your product.

marketing is more important and in marketing there is more popular in mouth to mouth marketing.

Ok, But both marketing and advertising is important. One are strategies and the other are tactics,
you may say advertising is a subset of marketing, Because marketing involves other activities like public relations. Is that what you mean David?

Let's put it this way: Advertising can be one of the components of Marketing.

I really think both are essential components of any business. Online you have to do advertising to begin with in hopes that one day all you have to do is marketing. Your customers are so vast that there is no way to reach them with only marketing(I think). But the game changes almost every day and with Goggle at the helm, we must always be on our toes trying to figure out the Terms & Conditions of all this advertising and marketing!

Both are important. It's intertwined.

As for me, I do think that advertising is just a part (the major part) of marketing.. If you really are serious about acquiring all the riches, you need to take strategic planning (marketing) before you hit the road (advertising) to go where you intended to go (success)...

Both are important in terms of SEO.
