If you have lots of followers you can get nice traffic from twitter, I get 20% of my visitors from twitter tweets and re-tweets. I make many competitions so I can get lots of followers.

Social networks are great to use, as long as people develop a strategy for using them. I think it is important to ONLY accept friends or followers (in Twitter's case) that are interested in what you have to say or offer. Make sure to change your tweets. Tweeting the same thing can get you a spam complaint or a sanction from Twitter. Particularly because their TOS have changed.

I agree with you Joel, twitter is brilliant for traffic, no secret to it good high quality posts and follow people in your niche. But make sure you respond or reply to their tweets, it pays to talk (tweet) so to speak.

Right, twitter is a really useful platform for generating traffics before our SEO efforts come into effects. But, the traffic from such social media would usually with lower conversion rate, IMO.

I agree with your point. Its very important to interact and talk to your followers and build a good relationship. The chances are high that your followers will click your link that you share with them.
