Yes of course they can give you traffic. It depends also in the keyword you are using but for it is because i am working on that before.

Yes, bookmarking sites can prove very beneficial for your sites. I was reading in this article that Articles / websites voted up to the frontpage usually receive a great deal of traffic and can easily see over 10,000 visitors within the span of a day.

Social bookmarking is very useful if you do it in a proper way, its a good way to get a short term traffic. For getting better results from social bookmarkings needs some continues work. Do not just submit your web page to social book markings website that will not give proper results.

Social bookmarkings are a good way to get a short term traffic. For getting better results from social bookmarkings needs some continues work. Do not just submit your web page to social book markings website that will not give proper results.For me, the best way to do it is to bookmark your blog. Create a blog entry that will get the attention of many. The title must be interesting too. Bookmark this article and wait. As far as I know, having a lot of friends on a social bookmark site might help you gain good traffic.

It depends of what kind of social bookmarking you are using. If you use the popular and has authority SB it will sure help. Example folkd, it is the best way to reach the targeted audience. Just you have to increase network and share your service.

Let us say we submitted a story to digg- so you got one digg of yourself and normally you do some average article. So nobody will get interest in the story and they won't digg. So, it will not be in popular section or won't come up on first page as it won't get much diggs.
So, your story will be sitting somewhere in the dark where nobody put a light on that - forget traffic.
If you think at least I will get backlink - even that is also NO NO. Sites like digg, mixx are all have nofollow tags now.
When I checked in my analytics on weekly schedule I see some traffic(say 20%) coming from stumbleupon. Other than this I have my doubts with these social bookmarking sites.
